Visual Interpretation

"We are No More Than God's Curiosity About Himself
For the “Visual Interpretation” brief, I developed a set of two images, or a diptych. My two images were of a horse, and a tower called the “Billinge Hill Beacon”. I chose a nature theme for this brief because there are a lot of rural locations in my home town, and wanted to explore them for this brief.

My chosen quote, “We are no more than God’s curiosity about himself”, ties into the images because they are both aspects of nature that “God” supposedly created, and by exploring and photographing these aspects of nature, we are curious about them, reflecting God’s curiosity about himself.

I initially struggled with this project because I didn’t know how to effectively design the diptych. However, after seeking feedback from my lecturer, I was advised to look at templates on Pinterest, and design my diptych based on that template. From that experience, I learned the importance of looking at other work for inspiration, because looking at how other practitioners do their work will give me an understanding and inspire me on how to create interesting work.

The translated aesthetic, with the yellow and white colour scheme and the circles looks great and contrasts well with the black and white images.

Unfortunately, I adhered to the template too much, as I included a “Nathan Mee presents”, which is quite corny and detracts from a solid piece of work.

As a result of this, my diptych looks neat and professionally designed.
